Die Nationalflagge von Singapur wurde 1959, im Jahr der Selbstverwaltung Singapurs im britischen Empire, angenommen. Als die Republik am 9. August 1965 die Unabhängigkeit erlangte, wurde sie erneut als Nationalflagge bestätigt. Vor ihrer Unabhängigkeit war sie die einzige Staatsflagge in Malaysia, die kein Verhältnis von 1: 2 hatte. Das Design ist ein horizontales Bicolor aus Rot über Weiß, das im Kanton (oberer linker Quadrant) von einem weißen Halbmond überlagert ist, der einem Fünfeck aus fünf kleinen weißen fünfzackigen Sternen gegenübersteht. Die Elemente der Flagge kennzeichnen eine junge Nation auf dem Vormarsch, universelle Brüderlichkeit und Gleichheit sowie nationale Ideale.
